The Rage keep on moving up!  Next Stop the OVA Premier Division!!!

Facing their toughest competition of the young season the “Durham Attack Rage” had their eyes set on a top 4 finish!  A top 4 finish would propel the team into the 14U Premier Division next month and would continue the Rage’s steady climb in the OVA rankings!

The tournament co-host team started on fire! They launched a powerful assault of serving and hitting that had the team from Etobicoke (the Titans) running for cover!  The powerful  “Attack ” toppled the Titans 25-20, and 25-19 giving the Rage a undoubted straight sets win! The next opponent on the battle ground was the City of Ottawa’s top ranked team the Mavericks! The Rage played the team from Ottawa with ferocious intensity, an intensity overwhelmingly applauded by the coaches and one they recognize will continue! In the end the Rage just missed out on obtaining a number one playoff ranking for the third tournament in a row as they lost a extremely competitive match to the Mavericks.

The result of the Rage’s first playoff match in the afternoon would determine a lot about the girls future….not only for the day in question but with a win it would guarantee a fourth place finish and a move up to the ” OVA’s Top Premiere Division”. The girls did not disappoint, they dominated the match against Ottawa Fusion with aggressive offense and stellar defense resulting in a 25-14 and 25-21 win which assured them another shot at a medal and a guaranteed move up in the  rankings!

Although the Rage were handed a Semi Final lose against Scarborough they were still positioned to win a Bronze Medal with a rematch win against the Ottawa Mavericks. The Rage played the rematch again with great intensity and focus on detail. Their collective effort produced a warranted first set win 25-23 and although what followed was a couple of hard to swallow loses 18-25 and 6-15. However the Rage had nothing to hang their heads about!  Their spectacular effort and fantastic team chemistry were both key in accomplishing their short term goal of playing in another winner take all medal match and their longer term goal of moving up the OVA rankings and into the Premier Division!

Thanks to all the parents and coaches involved in making the hosting of this event a tremendous success and to the Durham Attack Players for making us all proud of you on and off the court!

    Happy Holidays!
