Preparation for the final OVA 14U tournament of the year!

As a tune up for their last 14U tournament of the year,  the Rage enter weekends 15U McGregor Cup!

The “Rage” started the tourney on fire dispatching both the Clarington Grizzlies and Scarborough Titans (Terrors) in straight sets. In both games the “Rage” dominated play and seemed very focused on winning a medal!

The afternoon would start with a much tougher test for the Girls as they would be pitted against another strong 14U team, “The Scarborough Titans (Eclipse)”.

In the opening set the “Rage” started right where they had left off winning the first set 25/9….It was as if the volleyball had eclipsed the lights leaving Scarborough to play in the dark!  Perhaps a little over confident from their earlier successes,  the Rage fell behind to Scarborough in the second set 20-12. This is when we really seen what this team can do when facing adversity! The team from Durham “Raged” back using power, accuracy, intensity and most of all team work overcoming the deficit! The win had now guaranteed the “Rage” a shot at a  medal!

In the Semi-final, the girls once again found themselves facing their 14U Club Rival “The Durham Attack Energy”.  In the opening set the “Rage” played a bit tentative and by all accounts did not seem up for the challenge initially, however as they usually do they responded roaring right back in the second set and taking a 17-13 lead. The girls played with great intensity and if it was not for a couple of unforced errors they would have pulled the plug on the Energy and won the second set!!! Ultimately the errors cost the Rage this time around handing them the the loss, but even with the loss they still had one more Bronze Medal match to play!

In the Bronze Medal match they would play another club team  “The 15U Durham Attack White”! The match resulted in a straight set loss and although the “Rage” showed spurts of brilliance, for the most part they seemed to still be reeling from there close lost to the “Energy” the game before that seen them lose their chance to play for gold! .

Many believe, “The Rage” will  look back on this tune-up tournament as the day the foundation was laid for their “McGregor Cup Gold Medal Performance”!!!

See you in Ottawa as the Rage Go For Gold at the 14U Bagarski Cup!!!!
