• Pembroke Gold for INVASION 14U Red

On the coldest weekend of the year, Team Invasion traveled to Pembroke for some bonding, competition and teamwork!  Vikings Coach and Founder Dave Dobson (a good friend, mentor and previous coach to our own Coaches Carol and Don Hart) invited our team to Pembroke for a non-OVA tournament hosted by the Vikings.

After an unexpectedly long drive through snow squalls (thanks a lot google maps!), the athletes and families were generously greeted Friday evening by Coach Dave, who welcomed the girls with sweet gift bags and a pizza social by the lounge fireplace for athletes and parents. To top off the night, Coach Dave prepared a scavenger hunt for the athletes – the girls had a blast solving riddles and searching the hotel for items to complete their hunts!

Next day was game day at Opeongo High School. Teams from Ontario and Quebec met in spirited competition on this record breaking cold Saturday. INVASION played well throughout the day – working together to pull out wins in every match – winning gold in the championship round! The day provided INVASION the opportunity to hone teamwork skills and sharpen techniques. It was a day of building friendships across teams, and simply enjoying good games of volleyball. A big thank you to Coach Dave for a warm welcome and great day of sportsmanship and competition.

We look forward to meeting again soon!
