Legendary coach, Bear Bryant, once observed: “It’s not the will to win that matters – everyone has that. It is the will to prepare to win that matters.” With this understanding, that championships are won at practice, the girls of 14U Black have taken the court this fall wearing sweat as their proudest accessory. The group cohesion that first revealed itself when they stood together as the bane of all mice at Madawaska has only grown under the dynamic tutelage of Coaches: Joel, Steph and Kiana. The girls have set impressive goals for their upcoming season and have shown a willingness to sacrifice to achieve them. While they have already expended the season’s allotment of ice packs and athletic tape in their efforts, they have each remained in the trenches, committed to their common cause, and digging towards Calgary. Their campaign begins on November 8th.
