Introducing Girls 13U Black Head Coach Melonie Allin

Introducing Girls 13U Black Head Coach Melonie Allin

Here at DA we’re blessed with a very deep coaching talent pool.  We’ll try to introduce you to some more of our coaches over the next week or so.  Previously we introduced 18U Girls Black Head Coach Dwayne Cochrane, 17U Girls Black Head Coach Evan Williams, and 18U Boys Black head coach Ian Eibbitt.  We have similarly talented coaches leading each of our boys and girls age groups.

Our 13U Black team will be lead by Melonie Allin, with Martin Suits assisting.  Its a veteran coaching combo that will do great things with the team.

As a club athlete Melonie played 3 years of club ball, winning a National Silver medal as a juvenile. Upon graduating she accepted a scholarship to NCAA UNC Pembroke where she played for two years and was finalist for conference Rookie of the Year. She returned home to finish her education and play for 3 years for McMaster Marauders, one of the most respected schools and volleyball programs in the country.

In the coaching department Melonie served as assistant coach at Brock University before coming to coach at Durham Attack. With the club she has been an assistant coach on teams that have won 3 National championships, 1 National bronze medal, and 2 Ontario championships.

Mel is still very active as an athlete, last summer winning a Gold medal (indoor volleyball) and Silver medal (beach volleyball) at the World Masters Games in Italy.  Outside of sports she is a French Immersion teacher at Julie Payette PS.

Our 13U girls tryouts begin on September 6th.
