Hurricanes 13U girls place fifth at 14U tourney

After a slow start in morning pool B play, the Durham Attack Hurricanes 13U girls team finished strongly at the 14U McGregor Cup event hosted by the Peterborough Thunder on January 13, 2018.

The two morning matches saw the girls falling to DRVC Scott and to the host Peterborough 14U team in hard-fought contests. After a great lunch and birthday cake for newly-minted teenager Michaela, the team took two of their three afternoon matches including a lopsided win against the DRVC club they faced earlier.

This was the first 14U tournament of the season for the Hurricanes, so no more three-ball. Their many hours of practice paid dividends when it came to serving, with Caitlyn and Michaela particularly effective for long stretches on serve during the afternoon matches.

The team ended the day in fifth place and in great spirits. They look to build on that success as they co-host their next tournament, with the Attack 12U girls team, at Maxwell Heights S.S. in Oshawa on January 20.
