Congratulations to the Durham Attack girls 16U black team on a successful first tournament of the year. The 17U, 18U invitational tournament was held on October 25th 2014 in Cambridge, and was hosted by the Scorpions 17U team. A total of eight teams competed, with Durham Attack 16U black winning 9 of 11 sets played that day!

The girls started pool play with a 25-19 win over the Clarington Grizzlies. They went into the next set with confidence and ended up taking it with the same 25-19 score.

In their second game of pool play the girls faced the Scorpions Venom. They performed even better than during their first game and took the first set 25-18. They went on to win the second set 25-16.

Their last game of pool play was against Etobicoke 381. They needed to win a single set to place first in their pool. They ended up taking the first set 25-21 and lost the second 22-25; enough to win their pool.

The Durham Attack 16U black girls got a bye to the quarter-finals and faced Simcoe Extreme. They started off strong and took the first set 25-17. Going into the second set the girls were determined to do just as well and won once again by a score of 25-17!

In the semi-finals Durham Attack faced the Scarborough Titans 18U team, which had also been playing extremely well that whole day. The girls knew that they had to bring their ‘A’ game to move on in the tournament. They had a rocky start and ended up losing the first set 12-25. The girls came off the court with their heads high ready to rebound in the next set. They battled for each point to keep up with the Titans and the Attack prevailed with a 29-27 win to take the game to a third set. In an exciting finish with a tug of war for each point, the Attack managed to push through and win the final set 15-13!

With the tournament running late, there was no time for a final game between Durham Attack and Etobicoke 318. It was agreed to call it a draw, and both teams shared in the tournament win!
