Durham Attack Red Flare bring home another medal at the February 6, 2016 13U McGregor Cup in Kingston
Durham Red Flare come up with another winning performance at Queens University Kingston!
Coming off their Silver Medal performance in the 14U Coburg Tournament, our girls started right where they left off with a convincing opening match win against the Pegasus’s (25-12 / 25-12). In the final match of the round robin the Flares were put to the test against the Maverick Rattlers. Our teams vastly improved positioning was very evident through two very competitively played games, in the end it was a disappointing close loss (22-25 / 19-25) which seeded the girls second in their pool.
The afternoon performance of the 2015/2016 Durham Attack Red Flares highlighted just how far the girls individual development had come, but immensely more evident was how much further they had developed as a team! In the Quarter Final Match they faced the higher ranked NBVC team and were easily victorious (25-11 / 25-7). The straight sets win set a Semi Final date with who many believe is the Flares biggest rival, our own Durham Attack Nightmare’s! In the opening game “our girls slayed the Giant” (25-18) with their outstanding attention to detail, positioning and team work as their sword!! The Nightmare responded and showed why they are one of the top ranked teams eventually defeating the Flares in an extremely competitive (25-18 / 18 -25 / 15 -10 ) match win!
There was a little initial disappointment in the loss as the girls had realized just how close they had come to tasting Gold! This disappointment quickly dissipated and was replaced with optimism due to their spectacular play and the fact their confidence was at an all-time high entering their Bronze Medal Match against the Peterborough Thunder.
The result………. back to back Medal winning performances for the 13U Durham Attack Flare’s as they won their Bronze medal match (25 – 23 / 25 – 18)!!!!
Next stop Cornwall!!!
