The infinity girls had a full month of February with 3 tournaments in a row. We headed to Ohio on Family Day weekend for some good volleyball competition. We played 4 teams from Ohio in the pool play and had some good matches with solid serves and hits. We came third in our pool and had a late start (1:15pm)on Sunday for the playoffs. We met Defensa from Ontario in the Quarters. We hadn’t played them yet in the OVA this year so were happy to win against them in 2 sets! We went on to win our semis and finals, both with tie breaker matches and won a bronze medal in tier 3. We were excited about our finish as we had to push hard and play strong. It was great to experience this tournament in Ohio and we came back to Ontario with a deeper level of confidence in our abilities.
After having to travel for previous tournaments we were thrilled to find out our last U15 and U14 premier tournaments would be in Scarborough!! On February 20, our U15 tournament we met Titans Revolution in the first match. We came out strong and won the first set against them. Our blocking was on fire all day and we proudly finished 5th! We look forward to competing in the top division and being the highest ranking U14 team at the U15 provincials in April.
On Feb 27, we headed back to Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate for our U14 tournament. We had a day of lows and highs and character building as we were down twice in sets against Leaside and Ottawa Mavericks in pool play but came back to win 25-18 and 25-16. After a 2 hour break we played Barrie Elites in the quarters and won 25-17 and 25-10. We had a very loud and intense semi final match against Pakman, and although we had some good points we lost in both sets. We were hoping to redeem ourselves against Titans Quest in the bronze medal match. We came out strong in the first set but lost 25-23. We won the second set 25-18 and now on to the tie breaker…..it was truly a see saw game with everyone on the edge of their seats…..at 16 all we had a play called against us which caused the titans to increase to 17-16. Again it was back and forth and the final score was 20-18 for the titans. Even thought they got to take the bronze medal home we know we performed well and will come out on top of them in the provincials!!
