Jenkins, Paul

Girls 14U Red Head Coach

I have been coaching for 10+ years in volleyball, hockey and fast pitch. I started with volleyball 10 years ago as a parent helper when my daughter first started playing with Durham Attack at age 9. After a couple of years of this, my love for volleyball grew and I decided to become a carded ref in the OVA. I then decided I would prefer to be a part of a team, and due to work considerations, I moved to coaching with the Orillia Suns. I have been there the past 4 years at the 13u and 14u age levels. I grew up playing every sport I could but played hockey and baseball competitively.‎ I believe that volleyball is one of the most pure team sports available as each and every player is used and is vital to every play. Outside the court I am a huge fan of Star Wars and the Leafs.

Baxter, Gord

Girls 16U Red Assistant Coach / Boys 13U Assistant Coach | gord.baxter@durhamattack.ca

Gord is returning for his third season in his new Durham Attack career and is extremely excited about the year ahead. Gord has coached boys of all age levels for Durham Attack in the late 90’s into the early 2000’s. He took a break from coaching at the club level when he started a family in 2002 and now has three wonderful children who are playing the game. Last year, he coached the Durham Attack 14U Red team and is looking for more great achievements for the girls this coming season.

Gord is a teacher at Port Perry High School and has coached high school teams, both boys and girls, for over 20 years, winning numerous LOSSA championships and have made several appearances at OFSAA. He is a level 3 volleyball referee, starting refereeing when he was 16 years old, and this has been another way to give back to the sport that he loves.

Gord coaches because he loves helping young athletes to develop. Developing skills on the volleyball court is only part of it. He truly believes that athletes who play on teams develop skills that they will use their entire life. Teamwork, responsibility, hard work, the ability to cope with adversity and reliability are skills that people need long after their volleyball playing career is over. He has had coaches when he was a young athlete that inspired him and taught him those skills and he hopes to be able to pass the things he has learned onto the young people he works with.

Technical Direction

Allin, Melonie

Mentor Coach | melonie.allin@durhamattack.ca

Melonie Allin is a great example of our young female coaches who bring the skills and experience gained from not only club volleyball, but from university playing and coaching experience. She has been coaching our girls teams for seven years.

As a club athlete Melonie played 3 years of club ball, winning a National Silver medal as a juvenile. Upon graduating she accepted a scholarship to NCAA UNC Pembroke where she played for two years and was finalist for conference Rookie of the Year. She returned home to finish her education and play for 3 years for McMaster Marauders, one of the most respected schools and volleyball programs in the country. In her final year of university she helped coach the Mac 20U team under veteran McMaster coach Tim Louks. Upon graduation she took an assistant coaching position at Brock University with their women’s varsity team for the 2006/2007 season.

With the club she has been an assistant coach on teams that have won 3 National championships, 1 National bronze medal, and 2 Ontario championships.

Mel is still very active as an athlete, last summer winning a Gold medal (indoor volleyball) and Silver medal (beach volleyball) at the World Masters Games in Italy. Outside of sports she is a French Immersion teacher at Julie Payette PS.
