Their first game in pool play was against a DRVC squad they knew well from last season, 17U Blue. Attack got off to a strong early start and hung on to win the first set 25-17. But things didn’t go as well in the second, and a tie-breaker was needed. DA took that set 15-7.
The 17U Crimson girls hosted the 18U Provincial Cup on November 10th at Maxwell Heights.
Up next in pool play was Kingston’s “S” squad. The teams split the first two sets but DA took the tie-breaker 15-9. That left the Crimson girls atop their pool.
After lunch, Attack played Titanium from Brockville in the quarterfinals. DA took the game in straight sets 25-12, 25-13.
They then faced an 18U team from Peterborough in the semifinals. Once again it was a straight set win for Attack, 25-14, 25-20.
That set up a gold medal match with DRVC Blue, the team the girls faced first thing in the morning in pool play. And it was a final that did not disappoint, giving fans many thrills. The Attack girls came out on top of a nail-biter of a first set, 26-24. Things were almost as close in the second set, but DA ultimately won 25-21 to take their first gold medal of the season.
Congrats to all the girls and coaches on a hard-fought and entertaining tournament.
