It was off to Ottawa on March 24th, as the 16U Red Girls took part in their last 16U tournament of the season, the Bugarski Cup, plating in the Championship division.
The first team they faced in pool play was the Venom Vipers. DA got off to a shaky start, falling behind 6-1. But they came back to tie the first set at 8. Then pulled ahead 15-9 and went on to take the set 25-16. From there, Attack continued their strong play, taking set two 25-15.
Up next in pool play were the host Ottawa Maverick Wildcards. Once again Attack fell behind early.
In fact they were behind the entire set before working their way back to tie it at 21-21. Then they slipped behind again 24-21. But after a quick timeout the girls came back on the court to score 5 straight points and take the set 26-24.

After a very short lunch break it was straight on to the quarterfinals and the Ottawa Maverick Gamblers. DA came out strong to take the first set 25-8. The second set was closer, but Attack prevailed 25-18.

It was a nail-biter of a third set with DRVC leading most of the way. The teams were tied at 12. But DRVC came out on top of a 17-15 score to send the Attack girls to the bronze medal game.
That’s where Attack played Pegasus. DA trailed most of the first set but came on strong at just the right time to take it 25-21. They would repeat the same score in the second set to claim the bronze. medal.
It was a hard-fought day where the Red Girls showed they have a lot of fight in them and it sets them up for provincials next month in great form.
