13U Girls Red TNT Bugarski Cup

Team TNT hosted their second tournament of the season on Sat Feb 28/15 at Henry HS in Whitby.
Under the direction of Coach Gord at this tournament the girls started their day playing the Markham Stingers. Team TNT was on the attack taking this match 25:12 and 25:21.
The second match was against a very forcefully Leaside Lighting. The first match was very close, TNT playing point for point only to be defeated 27:25. The second match started slow but TNT was determined to take this one and after a very strategic time-out they rallied ahead to win 25:21. The tie breaking match however did not end so well with TNT losing 15:4.
TNT placed first in their pool and was able to enjoy their lunch break before moving into the next round of play where they met the Aurora Storm Monsoon. TNT played some their best volleyball in this first match. They had the longest rally ever…it seemed like it was never going to end as TNT kept calling the ball and eventually won the point and match 25:13. The girls where not so lucky in the second set, although the game was a very close battle. They lost 22:25. Off to another tie breaker showing what they have learned and have been practicing winning 15:10.
Next round was the semi-finals. Here awaited the Markham Wasps. This team was tough as they took TNT down in both matches 9:25 and 14:25.
This brought TNT to the bronze medal match. Perhaps not where they were hoping to be but it was the East Championship’s are the teams all showed why they were there. This last match of the day was against the Scarborough Titans Quest. The Quest was on the quest for a medal taking the matches 15:25 and 13:25. However, in the second match team TNT managed to score a 2-point basket…which is a whole other court game.
The girls of TNT placed at this tournament and it gave they a good look at some of the competition which will be at the upcoming Provincials in April.
Again, thank you to all the parents who helped with organizing, setting up and tearing down, contributing to the gift baskets that were raffled off, lining and scoring…what a TEAM!!
